Meet ASHER
*****************************************************************
“Cutest underbite. Playful energy. Gentle nature.”
*****************************************************************
Once upon a time, there was a little black pup running up and down the street. He was muddy, but well-fed. Certainly this boy had a home.
The finder searched and searched for his home and family, but no luck. And now we have the sweetest dog looking for a new home & family.
ASHER weighs in at 26 lbs, and is about 2-4 years old. He is the perfect size if you are looking for a small dog who isn’t too tiny or small. He is the sweetest, and when his ears are up (with his little underbite) he is also the cutest! This boy loves car rides and playing with balls. He is very comfortable laying on the couch, and being next to you. He is adorable, yet not quite perfect. We love that he hasn’t shown any signs of destruction, however, he is working to be house-trained and is not a fan of the leash (seems to be unfamiliar with it). He does however use potty pads, and is fully capable of learning to do his business outside with a regular structure & schedule. As far as the leash, he assumes to go without!
His natural inclination is to stick with you, however, that is not always the safest route. Further training would be required to KEEP him with you in the event of a distraction (squirrel, cat, dog, etc).
ASHER has not been tested with dogs or cats, although he was a bit on guard with the bigger dogs who walked by while in the waiting room at the vet’s office. We believe it may be a result of the foster’s 2 big dogs going after him, and suspect it is a temporary reaction from his experience, as he was not terribly fixated. We do not know for certain though. We do know however that he does great with the rabbit in his foster home. He is simply fascinated just watching, and does not go after her. ASHER does not appear to have separation anxiety. He initially whined when left alone, and eventually got over it. With regards to thunderstorms, he feels most secure curling up on your chest or hiding under the bed. He is a lovely guest, and would also make a great permanent addition to a family, single person or couple. This snuggle bug currently sleeps in bed with the foster’s daughter, and he loves it. It just isn’t his forever home, and Mr Asher is ready for his own personal “happily ever after.”
This kiddo would love the affection and security that all dogs deserve, and would be THE HAPPIEST with someone to regularly play ball with, and someone who enjoys taking him out and about on car rides. If that’s something you can easily picture, Asher would absolutely love for you to complete an application per the link below:
