Meet Ranger
*****We are Good Catch Dog Rescue. The dogs in our care are fostered by either ourselves or close friends. We are in Texas, and we transport our dogs North because TX is flooded with unwanted dogs already.
All of our dogs are vaccinated and on preventatives. Dogs older than 6 months are spayed or neutered. Our dogs live with us, not in boarding, and they are part of our family. Please visit our website to learn more about our family and our dogs. Goodcatchdogrescue.org*****
At just over 2 years old, Ranger came to Good Catch after being found as a stray with injuries to his neck that resembled an embedded cable. He was in poor physical shape but high spirits when he entered our care.
Fast at making friends, Ranger found his place among sometimes 10 other foster dogs and puppies in his new home. He quickly picked up the routine and learned to be crate trained. This happy chappy couldn't choose who he loved more, his foster mom or dad, so every night when it's time to settle down on the couch for some relaxation time, he swaps laps during commercials.
Ranger has proven to love children. In one of his previous homes, he claimed the laps and hearts of his toddlers. He knows to be gentle with young children however being a sizable dog at 55lbs, we think kids over 8 may be best suited for this jolly fellow.
A good match for Ranger would be with someone who is experienced with the stubbornness that a Bassett brings to the home. A person who enjoys palling around with their dog and knows how to gently enforce the rules that make him a better dog.
This boy isn't just all ears, he's all eyes for his people too! He's very curious and everywhere you go, he wants to go as well. He loves to play and begs to be chased and will "tease" his person or canine playmate while he bounds around the yard with his short-lived energy. On the flip side, he wouldn't say no to sharing a bed with his person be it a nap or a full night's sleep.
With the way Ranger jumps into the car, one would think he'd not be a candidate for carsickness. But alas, as perfect as he is in so many ways, Ranger will drool his way to town with you. We don't see it subsiding, but there is medication to ease his dizziness and we use it when needed.
Ranger has a zest for life that comes from an appreciation of being rescued. He will always be your shadow and best friend, and we look forward to finding his perfect match and giving him this last piece of "peace" since being rescued.
Ranger is fully vetted and microchipped. He's been given a 12 month Proheart shot for Heartworm prevention and will make some lucky person the happiest hound lover ever!
We transport our dogs up North and out of Texas. We use trusted partners to safely deliver them to their families.
Our adoption fee is $350 and the cost to transport out of state is an additional $300.
