HOLMES is neutered, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 19 June 2021. His mother is Sheena a white GSD. HOLMES will need his Rabies vaccine when she is between 4-6 months old.

 We cannot say for sure what breed he is, so we expect families to do their own research on his look and size and decide what breed you think he is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for his needs.

 

As Hector is under 3 months, we are only going to be taking applications for families who are interested in adopting him and another pup/dog or who already has another dog, of a suitable age to play and run around with him. If he is still available in a few weeks, then he will be old enough to be adopted on his own.

 

HOLMES is a PUPPY, a BABY, he is going to be a lot of work, people tend to forget how much work puppies can be, so make sure you do your research or seriously consider if you have the time and patience for a crazy, high energy puppy. He is going to need house training, leash training, obedience training, learning all rules of the house, learning who his new family is. He is going to be chewing on anything he can get his mouth around. He will most likely cry or whine as he is used to being with all his siblings, his mum and all the dogs in the rescue. PUPPIES ARE A LOT OF WORK.

 

Holmes is a very happy puppy, his personality is developing and so will grow into how you treat him, train him, socialize him and expose him to many different environments, people and situations. He is mouthy and has sharp teeth as all puppies do so take into consideration if you have small children.

 

Holmes is going to be a medium, large, active dog and so we are only accepting applications that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to his needs, now and over the next 10+ years.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.

HOLMES would benefit from a HIGH QUALITY PUPPY FOOD!

 

ALL dogs are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopting two dogs/pups $1,000 for both dogs.

 

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

 

Due to borders being closed, it is up to families to call the US and Canadian borders to find the current details on border crossing. Animal Welfare is deemed essential in the US, but quarantine rules entering back into Canada must be followed.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
